Coupons!!
There was so much information I was not able to cram it all in last time!
Stacking can be done at a lot of stores and is a great way to really multiply your savings. Always check the stores coupon policy to make sure you can stack and as long as it is allowed this is how you do it. You can use a manufacturer coupon and a store coupon for the same item lets say in this example we have a manufacturer coupon for $0.30 off a bag of frozen veggies and a store coupon for $0.25 off a bag of frozen veggies use both coupons for the same bag of frozen veggies to get a total of $0.55 cents off. Another way to stack that I actually used at Target recently is I had a Target Store coupon for buy two bags of candy get one free and I had two manufacturer coupons for $1 off one bag of candy I bought the three required bags of candy and used all three coupons. If I had another $1 off manufacturer coupon I could have used it as well but I only had two. Sometimes you can stack manufacturer coupons as well. I tend to do this at Rite Aid when they are having a sale. If you have a coupon that is Buy 1 Get 1 Free you can use a manufacturer coupon for dollars or cents off the one that you have to buy increasing your savings. Do not forget you can use store rewards along with your stacked coupons at Rite Aid. At Walgreens their policy states that you can stack coupons but you can not use more coupons then items purchased so you will need to grab a cheap filler item when stacking coupons at Walgreens.
Doubling coupons is pretty self explanatory. If you have a local store that doubles it means that they will take your coupon and match the savings at the register. Usually the store will have a limit on how high the amount off can be, how many coupons they will accept and even what days they will offer the double savings promotions on. It is a great way to use coupons so if you have a store that doubles take advantage of it.
Sorting & Binders
You will want to have a safe place to keep all of your coupons just like you have a safe place to keep your cash. If you follow my blog you know how much I really love my Couponizer it is great for the busy mom on the go, but I have noticed recently that mine is bursting with coupons I am finding so many great ones. If you have a whole lot of coupons, buy several papers to clip coupons from and keep your printer going like crazy printing coupons then you may want to take the time to check out www.thekrazycouponlady.com where she has a great tutorial on how to create your own coupon binder. Binders help with sorting your coupons too so you spend less time searching for your coupons and more time finding great deals to match them with.
Menu Planning and matching sales
One great way to save money at the grocery store even without using coupons is to have your menu planned out. One great easy way to do just that is to first clip your coupons, then search your stores sales flier and match your coupons to what they have on sale. After doing that think of maybe 7 meals that you can make using those items and write them down on an index card. From there make your shopping list checking your pantry and freezer to make sure you have everything that you need to not only make those seven meals but to also make breakfast, lunch, snacks and dessert for your family for the week. Watch for sales on items that you will not normally have a coupon for like fresh meat and fresh fruits and veggies so that you are not buying those at top dollar but at rock bottom prices. I really strongly suggest that you get a small note book to take with you on shopping trips and write down the prices of ten to twenty items that you buy on a regular basis. Track those prices every week for about two months if you can to see the sale price pattern your store uses and then use that to your advantage when planning your menu and making your list.
I still have more tips to share but I am out of time so it looks like I will be posting another blog about couponing soon. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them in the comment section and please take the time to check out the rest of my blog! I have all sorts of great reads and resources so enjoy.
