Super Spartan Race South Carolina



On June 25th Brent along with 7 of his military brothers from the Seymour Johnson K9 section participated in the Super Spartan Race held in South Carolina. SSgt Andrew Rounds wrote up a quick article about what they did and why they did it and I wanted to share that with all of you. So kick back and enjoy the read while trying to imagine the amount of grime all of us K9 wives had to wash out of our husbands clothes the next day! Just kidding I am so proud of our guys, the great job that they do and the sacrifices they make. K9 truly does lead the way!

"The Super Spartan obstacle course race provides an 8+ mile battlefield of insane mud running with 15+ obstacles.The K9 section had a team of 8. MSgt Nathan Nash, SSgt Brent Reimers, SSgt Andrew Rounds, SSgt Dale Morgan Jones, SSgt James Bailey, SrA John Makripodis, SrA Joseph Swartout and SrA Matthew Halligan.  We ran this race in dedication to SSgt Ben Seekell and Charlie, our brother who was wounded in Afghanistan in May.  We handmade t-shirts in dedication to Ben, and luckily they survived the race.
 We wanted to show Ben that we supported him and the battle he is going through and as a team/family we can overcome any obstacles that may come our way.

We began our heat at 10:00.  Some of the obstacles included, a 50 meter low crawl under barbed wire, 8 foot walls, climbing rope netting, jumping from a 15 foot cliff, carrying sandbags and tires for a 1/4 mile,  moguls to climb not to mention the 8 miles of running through the mountain (mostly uphill) terrain of the Carolina Adventure Park.We all finished the race between 2 hours to 2 hrs 20 min. this was defiantly the most challenging thing any of us has ever attempted, and putting the USAF Warrior Week OB course to shame, BTW.  Testing our mental and physical resolve to the brink of failure and coming out on top left us all with sense of accomplishment that cannot be matched and proving our motto:
